Tuesday 27th March 2018

Hi All,

This has been the busiest season I have had, due to all the other commitments I have re: NZMA, Athletics Canterbury & the Nga Puna Wai Sports Hub, hence I have not writtan many e-News report this season.  It would be helpful if others stepped up and started doing more to promote masters athletes, as numbers continue to fall.  I need more time to concentrate on getting Nga Puna Wai ready for the season ahead and all that involves, so if you can help, please let me know.  But before that happens, there a few important messages ....

What's on & where?

Canterbury Master's Awards Dinner - Sunday 22nd April 2018, Cashmere Club from 6:00 p.m.:

If you are interested in going to this event, please contact Anne Davison on 339 6969 (evenings) or e-mail her (hawrut@snap.net.nz) to advise who & how many are going.

The cost is $15 for CMA members & Athletics NZ members who have competed during the season and $25 for all others including partners / friends.  Please contact Anne before Wednesday 18th April to confirm your place and  bring cash on the night.

NZMA Track & Field Championships, March 2019 - NOW in Timaru:

This event is due to be hosted by Canterbury in March 2019.  As you will be aware, the new track & feild facility at Nga Puna Wai is due to be completed prior to the 2018 -2019 season.  However, unseasonal weather such as we had last winter could cause furthere delays.  Athletics Canterbury have also been asked to host the Athletics NZ championships in mid March 2019.  Having had discussions with those involved with setting up the new venue, it was felt that having two major events a week apart is too mucn during the first season of operation.  Therefore, we have decided to host the NZMA event in Timaru, from 1st to 3rd March 2019.  The local South Canterbury Sub Centre have successfully just hosted the Colgate Games in January, so they are more than capable for organising this event, we help from a few of us.

Nga Puna Wai Sports Hub Up-date:

Progress continues to be made.  This month they are pouring the all-weather track.  This needs to be completed before the cold weather sets in.  The grass banks and second track will be worked once this complete, but this may not start until spring.  Updates aboput progresscan be found on the CCC website.  Click on the link below to find out more ....

If you scroll down the CCC page, look for DRONE FOOTAGE.  Click on that link to 'fly' over the sight.

CMA AGM - Wednesday 22nd August 2018, Port Hills Clubrooms @ 7:30 p.m.:

Mark this date in your calendar.  We need more people involved, so please consider giving something back to by standing for the committee.

That's all for now ...

Regards,

Andrew Stark

Friday 9th February 2018

Hi All,

I can't believe this is the first CMA e-News I have written this season!!!  I guess being so involved with doing NZMA e-News and knowing that you get that information, this page has been somewhat overlooked.  Maybe it time someone took over this role?

What's on & where?

Canterbury Masters Track & Field Championships - February @ Rawhiti Domain:

This event is open to all NZMA & ANZ Competitive members.  Once again we are holding selected CMA Championship events within two Athletics Canterbury Interclub programmes in February:  Day 1 - 10th February 2018 & Day 2 - 17th February 2018.   To view the events available each day ...  CLICK HERE for DAY 1  &  CLICK HERE for Day 2

This year we have had fewer masters competing at interclub, so there is no need to pre-enter .... just turn up and fill in the field event sheets as per normal for an interclub.  Track athletes just need to turn up 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of your race.  The cost is $10.00 for both days and includes a BBQ following Day 2.

BBQ ALL welcome:  If you are a non-competing CMA supporter, you are more than welcome to come to the BBQ on th 17th February.  Cost is $5.00.   Can you please e-mail Jonny Baird (CLICK HERE) if you are coming, so we can get an idea of how to cater for?

NZMA Masters Track & Field Championships - March 2nd to 4th 2018 @ Trigg Stadium, Whangarei:

LAST chance today to enter ... http://nzmastersathletics.org.nz/event/nzma-track-and-field-championships/
