Friday 28th June 2013

Hi All,

It's been a while since my last report.  From where I live, I look down on paddocks that have turned into lakes.  I'm not a great fan of wet / cold weather as it does get in the way of training ... well, it would if was able to trainwithout injuries.  Hopefully you have been able to keep warm and dry.  Within the CMA ranks, there are many who are heavily involved in the Athletics Canterbury committees and the organising the events.  There are two important Athletics Canterbury AGM'scoming up in July, which you welcome to attend.

Athletics Canterbury AGM:

This is occuring on Wednesday 3rd July at 7:30 p.m. @ the Cashmere Club.  Kevin Jago is the President of Athletics Canterbury.

Thursday 4th April 2013

Hi All,

The final gatherings for the summer have been and gone. The Link Relay was held in great weather, but overall team numbers were down, as were the number of children competing.

The Throws Pentathlon held at Rawhiti Domain, attracted the usual competitors, with two special races put on for Max Wood.  Well done Max on beating two more CMA M80 records, this time the 100m and 400m.

CLICK HERE is see results for both events.

There was a good turnout at the CMA Presentation Night, held in early April and based on the noise within the room everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.  Well done to all those who received a trophy.

The latast Cant-A-Long has been produced and has been distributed.  In this version you can see the 'winners' and record breakers for the 2012-2013 season, plus my President's report.  There is also advance notification of the CMA AGM, which is to be held inAugust.   A PDF version of Cant-A-Long, with coloured photos can be seen on-line by CLICKING HERE.

Winter Throws Pentathlon:

For many of the 'track' athletes, the winter season is a time to rest and recover before building up for next season.  However, for the throwers a monthly Throws Pentathlon is being introduce this winter, organised by Bev Church.  For more information, pleasecontact Bev on 388 5736.  It is scheduled to occur on the first Sunday on each month, held at Rawhiti Domain starting at 10:00 a.m. The first such event is to occur this Sunday, 7th April.

As mentioned last time, the South Island Track & Field Championships are being organised by Canterbury, but held in Timaru.  Closer to the time, I will be asking for helpers so we can run a successful meeting, up to our usual standards.

Recently Max Wood and Dave Leech took part in a braodcasting student documentry that scened on Metro News.  This can be viewed by CLICKINGHERE.  Their interview occurs at about the 16th minutes of the news broadcast.

If you are planning to race over the winter, good luck and I might just see you around.  If not, I hope to see many of you again at the CMA AGM.

Kind regards,

Andrew Stark

Regarding the throwing events, if total number of competitors are less than 12, we will consider combining the mens and womens events.  A decision about that will be made on the day, having talked to the throwersinvolved.

If you know of friends who will not see this e-mail, can you please ring them and pass on this information AND get them to enterASAP.
